Designed for Africa: PCES Showcases Akiba – The Core Banking System

Held every two years, the SAM Conference (Semaine Africaine de la Microfinance) is the leading event dedicated to inclusive finance in Africa, bringing together thousands of practitioners, investors, and innovators to exchange ideas, share experiences, and shape the future of financial inclusion across the continent. The 2025 edition, hosted in Nairobi, Kenya, once again served as a dynamic platform for collaboration and innovation, and PCES was proud to be part of it.

For the second time, PCES proudly joined the SAM Conference, the leading gathering for inclusive finance in Africa, held this year in Nairobi, Kenya.

As an exhibitor in the Innovators’ Village, our team had the opportunity to showcase the Akiba Core Banking System (CBS), a next-generation digital banking platform designed to help financial institutions across the continent grow smarter, faster, and more sustainably.

Our presence at Innovators’ Village once again provided an exceptional space to connect with microfinance institutions, investors, and ecosystem actors who share our vision for a digital-first financial sector. Through product demos, live discussions, and exchange sessions, we demonstrated how Akiba’s modular, cloud-based architecture and powerful integration capabilities can transform the way MFIs and banks operate – from loan origination to accounting, from mobile banking to API-driven interoperability.

Akiba stands as a result of over two decades of experience that the PCES team has built through implementing digital solutions for banks and MFIs across Africa. Every feature of the system reflects the realities of these markets – intermittent connectivity, multi-currency operations, regulatory diversity, and the need for cost-efficient scalability. Designed and continuously improved by experts who understand these challenges firsthand, Akiba embodies our commitment to creating technology made for Africa, not merely adapted to it.

Beyond technology, SAM 2025 was also a moment of connection and collaboration. We are grateful to have met with partners old and new – from development agencies and accelerators to financial institutions eager to accelerate their digital journeys. The positive energy and forward-looking conversations at SAM reaffirmed why we continue to invest our expertise in this sector: to enable financial inclusion and digital resilience across the continent.

At PCES, we remain dedicated to supporting Africa’s financial ecosystem with robust, human-centered digital solutions. The success of our engagement at SAM 2025 reinforces our belief that sustainable transformation is possible when innovation is paired with deep market understanding and long-term partnership.
